OAFM Call for Volunteers!

Starting June 3, we are looking for folks to assist with Market Day activities, Welcome , Info Table, assisting vendors with any inquires. Adhering to all AHS guidelines providing assistance to the market team when needed.

Why volunteer? The benefits of volunteering can last a lifetime—not only for those who you are helping, but for you as well.

If you are on the fence about diving into a new volunteer experience or have doubts about whether or not volunteering is right for you, you might find yourself surprised at just how much you can gain from taking the plunge.

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart

Help Complete the Fulton Ravine South Park!

Our community league is a proud member of SECLA (South East Community Leagues Association). For
several years, SECLA has been spearheading the Fulton Ravine South Park project and the next phase of
construction is underway. And while SECLA has been fundraising and planning, a little bit of help is
needed to get over the finish line.

Unfortunately, the skatepark is currently the only amenity in the park. There is nowhere to sit, and no shade or any other features. The South East Community Leagues Association (SECLA) conducted a formal community survey in 2016 to ask what would be needed in the park, and the design plan reflects what we heard from you.

Now more than ever, we understand that small neighbourhood parks are essential for health and well-being. SECLA is working with the City on this project to add amenities in the park, and we’ve already raised $500,000.

Every dollar counts and SECLA would love your support!

You are all welcome to the opening day celebration, hopefully planned for fall 2021!

In Loving Kindness

By Garth Paul Ukrainetz
Poet Laureate of the Blackmud Creek

Be not abashed when life is tough
No shame in having need
At times the road is harsh and rough
Confused this world indeed
It’s crucial that we all reach out
In giving and receiving
To rise above the walls of doubt
Together we’re believing
We’re here to care, we’re here to share
For that’s what life’s about
In loving kindness hearts prepare
The Food Bank helping out
